Max W. Donahue Post 12230 was officially chartered on March 17th, 2024, and currently has 60 members. Our focus is to advocate for local Veterans, build post membership and raise funds to assist Veterans in need.  We hope to achieve a sense of community and fellowship where Veterans can feel safe and supported. We foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts and advocate on behalf of all Veterans. We ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of this great country.

The Veteran Service Office (VSO) advises and assists veterans, dependents, and survivors concerning the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) with benefits resulting from service in the United States Armed Forces. The VSO is mainly funded from the Douglas County General Fund, with additional support from federal programs like the Jobs For Veteran State Grant for employment services and specific grants for mental health, emergency aid funded by sources like the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds and state grants. The VSO provides technical and administrative support for the Veteran Services program by processing claims, maintaining records, and providing technical information and referrals regarding veteran’s benefits and related programs. The VSO is among the strongest in the state, so effective that Veteran’s from neighboring counties actively seek support with the VSO.

The Douglas County Veterans Monument Foundation is a Colorado 501(c)3 Non-Profit formed to construct a monument and gathering place for all of our past, present and future veterans. The DCVMF is an all-volunteer board dedicated to putting the needs of our Veterans at the forefront. There will always be a need to maintain our award-winning monument and plaza, keeping it a beautiful gathering place for our community to honor and pay tribute to their friends and family members who have served. With over 20,000 Veterans in Douglas County, our vision is to become a valuable resource to our very own hometown heroes; our veterans. We have established a Veterans Assistance Grant program, for all eligible veterans to provide a hand up. While the government and other non-profits provide numerous resources, our once per lifetime Veterans Assistance Grants are awarded up to $2,000 and are designed to help where there may be a gap or where the other programs may be falling short.
